As we continue with our study of Matthew, we should remember that Jesus received holy spirit from God in Matthew 3:16, and he was continuing to say and do what God was telling him to say and do.
Matthew 8:1-4:
8:1(After) his having descended from the mountain many crowds followed him. .2And look!, a leper having come-towards (him) used-to worship him saying, "Lord, if-ever you may intend you are able to clean me." .3And having stretched-out the hand he touched him saying, "I intend – you must be cleaned," and immediately his leprosy was cleaned. .4And Jesus says to him, "You must see (that) you may say to not-one-person, but you must go point-out yourself to the priest and offer the free-gift which Moses arranged-towards (people) for a witness to them."
When Jesus came down away from the mountain (mount, hill) big throngs of people followed (came after) him. And look! (see, behold, calling attention to what happened next), a leper having come towards Jesus used-to worship him (was worshipping, spent time paying homage to him, being obeisant towards him) saying, "Lord/Master, if it should happen that you would intend (will) you are able (you have the able-power, you are capable) to clean me (to make me free from all mixture, cause me not to be mixed with something else, i.e. clean me from my leprosy)." This is the first record of Jesus being addressed as "Lord" (refer to Matthew 7:21).
Jesus stretched-out (extended) his hand and touched the leper (he applied himself to him) saying, "I intend (I presently and actively will) – you must be cleaned." And immediately (straightaway, directly) his leprosy was cleaned (caused to be clean, made clean – he didn't have leprosy anymore).
And Jesus says to him, "You must see (perceive with your eyes and understand the object-of-sight in your mind's thoughts) that you would say/speak to no-one, but on the contrary, you must go (actively lead yourself under, in the sense of going without any argument, under cover, as animals go because they are under a yoke without going from side to side or intentionally stopping to do something else, go) point-out yourself to the priest (indicate as pointing yourself out with the finger to the priest) and offer the free-gift (bring or carry your freely-given gift towards the priest) which Moses arranged (put or set in order) towards/with the people of Israel for a witness to them (into, with a view to it being an attestation or declaration which is borne by them bringing to light or confirming what happened as being authentic information or knowledge regarding this subject)."
