Matthew 22:1-7:
22:1And Jesus having answered again said in parables to them saying, .2“The kingdom of the heavens was made-like a man (who is) a king, he-who made marriage (celebrations) for his son, .3and he apostled his slaves to call the (people) having been called2 into the marriage (celebrations), and they used-to not intend to go. .4Again he apostled other slaves saying, ‘You must say to the (people) having been called2, ‘Look!, I prepared2 my meal, my bulls and fatlings have been sacrificed2, and all-things (are) prepared; come-this-way into the marriage (celebrations).’ .5But the (people) having been unconcerned went-away: (one) indeed who (went) into (his) own field, but (another one) who (went) on his merchandise-journey, .6and the remaining-people having strongly-held his slaves were-hurtful-towards and killed (them). .7But the king was caused-wrath and having sent his company-of-soldiers he destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
Jesus answered them again by speaking in parables. The word ‘parable’ literally is to throw something beside or alongside something else. Here it is an illustration with words used to serve as a comparison in certain respects only, not taking the whole literally in every detail because every detail would not be applicable to the comparison.
Jesus said, “The kingdom of the heavens was made like (God’s kingdom was caused to be like, similar to):
…a man who is a king, he-who made marriage celebrations (wedding festivities) for his son (the king’s son is heir to the throne). The king apostled his slaves (sent his bond-servants forth on a specific mission, assignment, which was) to call/invite the people who had been called (invited), and who were still on the invitation list, into the marriage celebrations – and those who were invited were not intending (were continuing to be unwilling) to go/come to the marriage celebrations.
Again the king apostled other slaves saying, ‘You must say to the people who were and continue to be called (invited), ‘Look (behold, see, pay attention to what is being said to you)!, I prepared and continue to prepare my meal (I have made my meal ready for you to eat and it remains ready), my bulls and fatlings have been sacrificed and continue sacrificed (my bulls and fattened animals were slaughtered, killed and offered as food for the feast), and all-things are prepared (all the other things that are necessary are ready); come-this-way (come here) into the marriage celebrations.’
But these people were unconcerned (without concern, careless, no interest, what they heard did not cause them any thought whatsoever and so they disregarded the king’s words spoken to them by the king’s slaves) and they went away: on the one hand one of them went into his own field (the farm belonging to him), on the other hand one of them went on his merchandise-journey (a trader who travels by boat/ship when necessary to carry-out his deals), and the rest of them strongly-held his slaves (they exerted their forceful strength and held the king’s bond-servants) and they were hurtful towards them (they acted with hurt, wanton-violence, insolence and insult resulting in injury) and they killed the king’s slaves.
But the king was caused-wrath (made to have a lasting angry vengeance, like the heat of a burning-fire, this was not a spur-of-the-moment thing) and having sent his company of soldiers he destroyed those murderers (utterly ruined those people who wrongfully killed his slaves, he caused those murderers to be completely lost away from himself) and he set their city on fire burning it.”
