This Book of Galatians is a letter (epistle) that was written by the
Apostle Paul to the churches of Galatia that were located in central
Asia Minor. These people were holy-people (sanctified-people,
Christians, saints, children of the only true God) because they had
already received the gift of holy spirit from God by means of the Lord
Jesus Christ. Paul had previously preached the good-message (gospel,
evangel) to them and they had believed it. These Christians were of the
Judean/Israel background or of the Gentile/other-nations background.
Paul wrote this letter by revelation to remind and teach the holy-people
more of that-which God has made available to mankind by means of the
Lord Jesus Christ. This includes the truth regarding the gift of holy
spirit which is the token of the new covenant of spirit, the new
creation, the truth that Christ has redeemed all Christians from the
curse of the law, and the truth that circumcision and uncircumcision are
no longer pertinent to/for Christians.
There is uncertainty as to the time of the writing of this letter; it is
claimed that it was written either between 51-53 AD from Antioch or
between 57-58 AD from Macedonia.
